Permanganate Principles and Application
The permanganate index refers to the oxidation of certain organic and inorganic reducing substances in water samples by potassium permanganate under certain conditions, and the calculation of the equivalent oxygen mass by the consumed potassium permanganate. It is a comprehensive water quality evaluation index which reflects the pollution degree of organic and inorganic oxides in water.
How it works: the water sample is mixed with an excess of permanganate acid, acidified with concentrated sulfuric acid, and reduced to permanganate under high temperature and pressure, thus changing the color of the mixed solution, the change degree of the solution color is corresponding to the permanganate index in the water sample. The Permanganate index in the water sample is calculated by measuring the mixed solution.
The main application scenarios are groundwater, river water, lake water quality better water quality monitoring of the Permanganate index.
